Biographical Statement

 I am Kendall Barksdale from Harlem, New York. I am the Senior Digitization Technician for the HBCU Digital Library Trust Initiative at the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library. I earned a Bachelors of Science in English from Clark Atlanta University and a Masters in Education from Fordham University. I taught Middle School English for four years in the Bronx, New York and High School College and Career Counseling for four years in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2021, I switched careers from being a teacher to a Digitization Technician Assistant at the AUC Woodruff Library where I was one of two people who digitized the Joseph Echols and Evelyn Gibson Lowery Collection. Currently, I am working on earning my Masters in Archival Science from Clayton State University and have the honor of digitizing and making HBCU Collections globally accessible and discoverable.

Candidate Statement


I am humbled to be nominated for the Member-at-Large Candidacy. As a poet, educator, and lover of music and archives, it is my commitment to continue to provide access, awareness, and the art of storytelling through the digitization of African American archival records to educate and empower youth and marginalized communities.
