Candidate Statement

I am excited to present my candidacy for Assistant Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee for the Society of Georgia Archivists (SGA). As the Outreach Archivist at the Georgia Archives, I am deeply committed to fostering connections within the archival community and advancing the Society’s mission. My passion for collaboration and advocacy allows me to bring together professionals, researchers, and archivists, enriching the field through shared knowledge and diverse perspectives. In my current role, I actively promote diversity in collections and educational initiatives, working to amplify underrepresented voices and support lifelong learning. This experience, combined with my expertise in public engagement and integrating technology into educational programming, uniquely positions me to help organize events that reflect the values of inclusion, sustainability, and community engagement. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to serve as Assistant Chair of Local Arrangements, as my experience in coordinating events and making scholarly content accessible to diverse audiences aligns with SGA’s mission. I would bring strong organizational skills, a focus on community-building, and a passion for outreach to create meaningful and impactful experiences for SGA members and attendees. Sustainability is also a personal priority, and I am eager to contribute to SGA’s efforts in promoting responsible leadership and environmentally-conscious practices. I believe that my experience and commitment to these principles will help create sustainable events that showcase Georgia’s archival heritage. If elected, I will work diligently to support SGA’s mission by organizing successful, impactful events that foster professional development and strengthen our archival community.
