Spotlight on Archives Grant

Georgia Archives Month | Archives Month Resources | GAM 2000-2025

The Georgia Archives Month Spotlight on Archives Grant is intended to help archives, museums, or heritage institutions in Georgia promote public awareness of their archives and manuscript collections during Georgia Archives Month in October. SGA has paused the grant and is not currently accepting any applications.


2023

Georgia Tech Library (Atlanta)

The Georgia Tech Library, Archives, Records Management, and Digital Curation Department used the funding to host a specialized workshop aimed at helping student organizations learn how to properly archive and preserve their group records and history, led by University Archivist Alex McGee (pictured) and Digital Accessioning Archivist Dillon Henry.

    Georgia Southern University (Statesboro)

     The Habersham Education and Research Center of the Zach S. Henderson Library at Georgia Southern University created a game-based instructional program that highlighted the unique resources offered on campus.

    The event for which GSU Special Collection and Archives received the Spotlight on Archives grant is called “Mags, Bars and (Drag) Stars: A History of Atlanta’s Gay Bars and Community Magazines.”  

    Speakers Gregg Daugherty and Ashley Coleman Taylor will talk about the impact of gay publications and bars in building Atlanta’s LGBTQ communities. To learn more about the speakers, please see the following link:
