The SGA Summer Workshop Series: Rooted in Memory highlights the value of Archives and Preservation in Black communities.  This 5-month series highlights the importance of preservation from knowledge production at the level of the body to institutional repositories.  These workshops center work of HBCU archives, archivists, and Black Memory Work(ers) and will take place during the Summer and Fall quarters of this year and will be open to the public.

Workshop: Radical Archiving with shady Radical

Description: Our bodies are containers of truth and culture that shape our social world. How do we extend preservation to embodied knowledge in the archives? This workshop explores radical archiving methods, strategies, and practitioners. Explore when archiving becomes a radical act; what it's like to work with politically radical collections; and how to identify, organize, and catalog radical archives by preserving anarachival materiality. Radical Archiving shares some good practices when preserving performance-based work and movement cultures.
