This workshop centers around ways to share our institution's archival collections through outreach programs and exhibits. The outreach component is taught by Helen Thomas, JoyEllen Williams, and Tiffany Atwater-Lee and will cover the following three topics:

  • Promoting university archives materials and services and engaging with university audiences. The focus will be on outside-the-box ideas and initiatives (e.g. the KSU t-shirt archive, Instagram trivia collaboration, outreach beyond History classes, etc.). Break-out sessions will also occur.
  • This presentation will focus on the integration of archives into K-12 curriculum in the Atlanta Metro area.  We will discuss ways to work collaboratively with educators to connect your institutions  services, programs, and exhibitions.
  • Laying the groundwork for faculty collaborations and instruction sessions. The presentation will specifically discuss initiatives such as the AUC Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) project that trains faculty members to utilize archival material during pedagogy. The activity for this presentation is TBD.

The exhibits component is taught by Andrea McKenzie and Brandon Wason. This component will discuss ways to develop exhibits, construct exhibit labels, and increase access to exhibit materials through online or digital components. There will be a designated time for questions and answers at the end of the workshop.

Instructors include:
