City of Savannah Municipal Archives

Biographical Statement

I am currently the Archivist for the City of Savannah Municipal Archives and have been with the organization for over 7 years. My day-to-day role includes processing, reference, outreach, adult and youth tours, historical lectures, and educational programming. In 2022, I was selected for and graduated from the inaugural class of the City of Savannah's Leadership Academy. I am passionate about cross-institutional collaboration, reducing barriers to access in Archives and improving representation in the archival profession and in collections. One of the projects I am most proud to be a part of is the City of Savannah’s Proud Savannah History Project, which aims to preserve Savannah’s LGBTQIA+ history through oral history, community outreach and collecting, and community partnerships. I have my MLIS from Florida State University and hold my CA certification as well as the DAS certification. I was on the SGA Communications team, and also served as the Secretary for the Coastal Museums Association for two years.

Candidate Statement

Nominating Committee Membership is a crucial role for SGA and represents an opportunity to help shape the future of not just this organization, but this profession as we identify, select, and lift up our future leaders. I relish the possibility to be able to help open doors for and extend leadership opportunities to rising voices in our field, voices who represent Georgia’s diverse communities, identities, and geography. As a nominating committee member I will help to seek out candidates that embody the values and mission of SGA, who will help move the organization forward in our mission to create a just and enlightened society. As an SGA member from outside of the Atlanta-metro region, I hope to help recruit other leaders from across the state and across institution types and sizes to help ensure that the full scope of our profession is represented on the SGA executive body. Making sure that our leadership reflects the rich diversity of backgrounds, race, identities, age, and institutions in our archival community will only make us stronger and more effective as advocates for Archivists in Georgia. Thank you for your consideration.
