Candidate Statement

The world is tuned into the work of archives and libraries in a way unlike any time before: from dramatic and coordinated first amendment challenges to the role of documentary evidence in federal investigations, knowledge workers are being recognized as vital to an informed society at the same time that their very existence is being challenged.

Now more than ever, archives and library professionals are called to unite forces and "build a network of support ... to strengthen and broadcast messages" (2021-2025 SGA Strategic Plan), while simultaneously ensuring that the specific needs and voices of archival workers are heard.

If elected as Assistant Local Arrangements Committee Chair, I would work in concert with both SGA and GLA leadership to explore opportunities for a joint Georgia Archives & Libraries Conference in 2024. I believe my proven experience in cultivating statewide strategic partnerships to benefit both archivists and librarians--regardless of institution type--will advance the planning of our next conferences and help SGA build the necessary bridges for long-lasting collaborations.
